Nearly everyone I've talked to who has completed Ph.D. work cites the conversations they had with other students and faculty outside of class as one of the most important aspects of their Ph.D. work. While our different office locations and the diversity of our research interests can hinder our coming together to share ideas, perhaps this blog, in conjunction with the PPOL webpage maintained by Olga, could be one small part of what several of us hope can be an ongoing conversation about ideas, research interests, articles and books--you know, the stuff we get excited about and few others do.

- Pass along useful tips, resources or links that you think would be of interest to other students and/or faculty in the department.
- Post notices of conferences, speeches and other events that might be of interest to the rest of us.

It may be helpful to add a section or a link to a section that explains how to make an original posting or add a comment, etc. for those who have never navigated a blog.
